The body of the fire pit does get warm, but not very hot.
If the gap between the fireplace and the table is about 1 cm all around, the tabletop will not get too hot.
Only by strong wind, the flames can be pushed to the side of the burner and then the body of the burner can get hot, To prevent this, we recommend to use a glass windshield / glass guard.
